THE BAND
Who are we?
Parlance has been playing together since 2003 and has almost 30 professionally recorded songs, including a number by famed producer George Clinton in Nashville. We play around the Washington DC/Baltimore/Richmond/Charlottesville areas. Find out about each member above.
What kind of music is this?
We play pop-rock. We resisted the term for a long time; we wanted to be “modern music with the taste of classic rock and the blues.” We wanted to set ourselves apart from a genre and focus on the music.
Sadly, it’s human nature to categorize things…and since we play hooky music with catchy melodies, meaningful lyrics, and round out the band with a guitar, piano, bass, and drums, we fit the bill of “pop-rock.”
Yes, we play a number of songs that are our own interpretation of various styles. Yes, we primarily cover songs from the 60s and 70s. Yes, we all come from completely different musical backgrounds. Yes, we could be an indy band or rock band, you could hear us on Top 40, or you could find us on your local country station. The fact remains: we play music that people want to listen to over and over again. We play pop-rock.
